Toast Donates $150,000 to Support LA Fire Relief

Sharing our support for the restaurant community impacted by LA fires.

Toast, via Toast.org, the company’s social impact arm, donated $150,000 to the California Restaurant Foundation’s Los Angeles Fire Relief Grants program in response to the catastrophic wildfires in Los Angeles. This contribution is intended to directly support food and beverage workers whose livelihoods have been significantly affected by the fires. The LA Fire Relief grants, which can total up to $1,500 per recipient, will aid individuals who lost their homes, income, or both. 

The California Restaurant Foundation’s Los Angeles Fire Relief Grants program has reported having already received more than 1,000 applications since the application process opened on January 14_1_. It’s clear that this crisis has devastated local businesses, community spaces, and lives. Our hearts are with the people of Los Angeles and the first responders working tirelessly to contain the fires and begin to rebuild.

We also continue to support World Central Kitchen and Regarding Her, both of which are playing a vital role in relief efforts. Additionally, Toast employees are donating their own time and money to organizations supporting wildfire relief efforts and leveraging our matching gift program to extend their impact. 

In addition to this donation, we are offering support to Toast customers who’ve had to close their doors due to the fires. Our local team has been reaching out to impacted restaurants in the area to understand their needs and offer support. We are also enabling restaurants outside of California_2_ to leverage our Toast Fundraising tool to contribute to local organizations. 

Restaurants are the pillars of our communities—spaces we gather in good times and in bad ones, the holders of some of our most special moments. Even in the face of devastation, restaurants continue to show incredible resilience—nourishing fire victims, providing meals to first responders, supporting their staff, and so much more. Yet as many restaurants face their own hardship, it’s important we come together to support them during this time of need. Together, we can help them continue to nourish and strengthen their communities, now and into the future.
